How strong is the evidence for Time-Restricted Eating?
Time-restricted eating (TRE) is supported by several well-designed randomized controlled trials, including a large NEJM trial that found calorie restriction with or without TRE, and a JAMA trial on early time-restricted eating, both showing meaningful weight loss but generally similar results whether or not meals were also restricted to a specific window. That evidence is currently rated moderate (64/100), built on 7 published studies, including 4 randomized controlled trials -- a reasonable base, but not yet enough for full certainty.
